Bishop bashing without apostrophes

Thanks to the Cardinal, I've discovered someone who bashes the bishop as much as Dame Thompson. It's really interesting how these people skew their arguments.

The complaint on John Kearney's blog is about the lack of Polish Masses in Portsmouth Diocese. It may, or may not, be a valid point.

The Cardinal offers an explanation – about Polish Masses, remember – and is immediately attacked for everything Kearney imagines is wrong with the Church.

If you are about to take a peep at this blog, please heed this solemn warning: Kearney obviously doesn't like queers. And, despite his professed adherence to Catholicism he identifieds himself as a Scorpio of the Zodiac Year of the Ox. But – and from this we really must protect our children – he hasn't the faintest idea where to place an apostrophe.

I may be poor at apostrophes but my comprehension of the written word seems much better that yours. My blog was not about the lack of Polish Masses but about the withdrawal of Polish Masses in a specific circumstance. I would also point out that I only go in for what you call `Gay bashing` when the rights of others to their conscience and beliefs are attacked by the Gay lobby. This I have every right to do. But I would also point out that I am registed partially sighted and lack of apostrophes is the least of my concerns.

Mr Kearney, nowhere have I accused you of "gay bashing". I have accused you of bishop bashing – that's an altogether different thing.

I rather mischievously remember when the Labour government contained David Blunkett who was blind, Gordon Brown who has one glass eye, and Tony Blair who is slightly cross-eyed. "Does this government lack vision?" was the question.

Sounds as if something is going a bit wrong all round. John Kearney is now deleting me from his blog unread, but has sent me an offlist message asking me why I don't come back.... Strange. Of course this may have nothing to do with it at all.

I've also been struck off Vox Cantor, just because I said the man was bonkers. He's actually got some taste, but he doesn't like people challenging his ecclesiology, which is non-existent.

The problem with bishop-bashing is that those doing the bashing don't actually know the people they're bashing. I'm sure the same goes for those using other people's names as pseudonyms to bash... Not only do they not know the people whose names they're using, they don't know the people they're bashing either. And they know precious little about the Church and its doctrines. Maybe we should start to talk about "the blinkered ones".
