A mystery gambler has tried to place £40,000 on Monsignor James Curry becoming the next Archbishop of Westminster. Bookmakers Paddy Power turned down the bet at the time but are now offering odds of 40-1 on Mgr Curry – recently appointed parish priest of Our Lady of Victories, Kensington – succeeding Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor.
